France pushes for EU biometric data sharing network for police
Publish Time: 26 May, 2022

The French presidency has proposed a regulation to allow police across the EU to share their records to facilitate cross country criminal investigations. Known as 'Pr¨¹m II Regulation' , the French  suggestion builds on a previous proposal on criminal data record sharing. It however calls for more data to be included in automated searches. This includes driving licences, facial images, and DNA. France is pushing for the vote on this proposal to be taken on 10 June.
