Italian DPA fines €16.7 million telecom company for GDPR violations

According to Compliance Week, the Italian data protection authority (DPA) has fined the telecommunications operator WINDTRE €16.7 million for violating data collection provisions of the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The decision was justified for "illegal data processing" related to the company's promotional activities.
