Japan to regulate the status of cryptocurrency

Starting from 1 April 2017 Japan will implement the law which regulates the status of cryptocurrencies (such as Bitcoin) as a legal tender. This regulation recognizes Bitcoin as a method of payment, but not currency. The bill will impose several limitations for the bitcoin companies (such as capital requirements for exchanges) but may also cause some accounting dilemmas.
