Musk's Starlink, the satellite internet service, has secured a 1.56 billion peso ($89.80 million) contract to provide free internet in Mexico until the end of 2026. Carlos Emiliano Calderon, the coordinator of Mexico's digital strategy, announced these agreements during a government press conference, reflecting the Mexican government's commitment to expanding connectivity and offering free internet access to its population.

In addition to the contract for free internet services, Starlink will also collaborate with Mexico's state energy firm, Comisi¨®n Federal de Electricidad (CFE), to provide infrastructure until the end of 2026. The estimated value of this collaboration ranges from 887.5 million pesos to 1.8 billion pesos.

This initiative is part of Mexico's broader policy to provide free internet access and improve connectivity infrastructure throughout the country, with contracts signed with nine companies.
