Our no. 1 selling Prime Day product wasn't even on sale (and it's sort of bizarre)

October Prime Day is over. The annual fall sale wrapped up yesterday, and there were plenty of savings across all categories, including lowest-ever prices on Amazon devices like Kindles and Fire TVs, deals on Apple, and more.

Find still-live Prime Day deals

With more people looking to shop early for the holidays this year, I expected 's readers to be scooping up tablets, phones, headphones, and more. And some of our readers did. The Google Pixel tablet was our no. 4 top seller over both days of the sale, and the Roku Streaming Stick Plus no. 3. Both are still on sale.

But our no 1. top-seller? My estimations were wrong. So very wrong.

This year, 's top 10 selling Prime Day products were a curious collective of gadgets and gizmos, most under $100 -- which isn't a huge surprise when we consider uncertain economic times, tariffs, and the upcoming holiday season. The surprise factor? Our no. 1 top-selling product during Prime Day 2025 was a $15 ear camera tool

Yes, you read that correctly. Hundreds of you purchased this gadget during Prime Day between Oct. 7 and 8. The kicker is that this little contraption wasn't even on sale. The discount was zip. That apparently didn't matter.

So what makes it so special? Well, folks, gadgeteer connoisseur Adrian Kingsley-Hughes breaks it down in his review, but I'll summarize.

Kingsley-Hughes says that while this tool is marketed as an ear camera, it's actually useful for other things you probably didn't think of. Our smart home writer, Maria Diaz, also confirmed this sentiment in our Prime Day discussion this week. Following Kingsley-Hughes' review, she discovered new uses for the ear tool she had already owned for several years.

As it turns out, you can do more than just stick this in your ear. Kingsley-Hughes says it's a "handy, pocket-sized inspection tool for just about anything... [there's] a compact 360-degree wide-angle 1080p camera that's perfect for use as an inspection device. The camera is kitted out with six tiny LED lights at the tip, which illuminate whatever tiny port, socket, or internal mechanism you enter."

Kingsley-Hughes uses this ear tool to inspect small, hard-to-see places, like his iPhone's USB-C port, and says it's an essential part of his gadgeteering kit.

He doesn't have any insights into using it for its intended purpose, but over 5,000 users on Amazon give this a 4.4/5 star rating. So if you're planning to hop on the tinkering trend, our Prime Day top-seller may be for you -- whether you plan to use it for your ears or not.
